By the time the powers that be pull the plug on what used to be an overtly Christian press, radio outreach and television ministry, the Gospel will have long been diluted and the music so convoluted that truth will barely be recognizable or missed. Oh we’ll miss the imagined freedom to preach and we’ll suffer withdrawal for a season as we are totally weaned off our dependency for buzz words, pretentious mantras and supposed religious and patriotic rights. Many restrictions will eventually alleviate us of our social media privileges. Blogs, free-lance articles and opinionated commentary will be systematically screened and we should expect to be fined, at first, to help harness our proclivity to call attention to sin and immorality. Judicial mandates will be levied in such a way so as to reduce open opposition to the change and will reduce what was once free speech to nothing more than a memory. I’m guessing some of us small time agitators who make waves or stir up small pockets of controversy are already gradually being neutered. It may appear we have a few thousand friends, fans and followers, say on facebook alone but is it realistic to believe that in most cases 90% of those we think are our friends are seriously inactive, critically indifferent or just void of an opinion altogether? I understand that man shall not live by facebook alone but still, why the seeming lack of even the mere, by the numbers traffic? Brethren, our days of interaction are numbered, our true friends are few and we will in due time be separated by laws yet to be initiated. Some are experiencing this in their local fellowships and in their own neighborhood. All that can be expected is to stay the course, be strong in the Lord and keep the faith once delivered to the saints.
