impressive !

As He was going out of the temple complex, one of His disciples said to Him,

“Teacher, look! What massive stones! What impressive buildings!” Mark13:1

Jesus came and tossed the whole showy impressive religious thing on its head: buildings, rituals, liturgies, prayer-beads, altars, shawls, incense, candles, curtains, temple priests, robes, big hats, holy sites, icons,
washings, public piety & pride, religious political worldly power…….

and then sometime soon after he left His humble, lowly “nobody” disciples to spread the good news of the simple gospel to all peoples………

……the religious and pagan and gnostic and political and worldly and unbelieving, and the “great”, and the ambitious, and the warring, and the powerful, and the covetous,
all got together and organized an impressive religious thing again…… in Christ’s name……. and it’s been growing, mighty and powerful and impressive in the world, ever since.

Immediately the Pharisees and Herodians went out and began to plot how to kill him. Mark3:6

Religious people were a problem for Jesus. They interfered with His work of redeeming and freeing people. He worked around them.

Jesus was a problem for the religious people. He interfered with their work of keeping people in bondage to their religious conformity. They decided to kill Him.
