“As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” Luke 21:6
The stones are us. We are now the temple, the living stones. He builds His temple with us. But first all stones are brought down. Some were and are brought down in the physical; all the martyrs from Stephen to the end. Regardless of physical death, all disciples are brought down in the spirit. Our pride and flesh has been thrown down. We have been humbled through the conviction of sin, being brought down to repentance. We are brought down on our knees before the cross of Christ, to have the blood of His righteousness applied. And we are further humbled and thrown down as God brings each true disciple to his DEATH, the taking up of our cross, and following Christ unto death. We are thrown down through dying to self, dying to this world, humbling self, losing our lives, mortification of flesh, and killing sin. SELF is brought down. Each stone thrown down. The new spiritual temple is built with stones that are first brought low.
Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. John 13:5
Quote from article by: Devon Leesley
“A True Leader? …we don’t have a clue! Elders are manifest by their character and their maturity in the things of God. They do not flaunt them nor do they wave a banner, “Look at ME!!” They are obscure servants that set an example. They support the poor; in fact, their heart bleeds for the needy. They are not given to avarice nor do they desire filthy lucre.
They are given to teaching and guiding not controlling and demanding. They seek not a pedestal or pulpit or podium. They do not take, they give, as all the body parts are taught to do, esteeming others greater than themselves. They do not wish for a personal following but they instruct others to follow Christ.
They deplore recognition and applause. They abhor presents and gifts. They shudder at the thought of any allegiance to them personally. They tremble at the prospect of favoritism being lavished on them by the “body”. Double honor is theirs for teaching well and their commitment to study but they would prefer to forgo that acknowledgement.
These are the marks of true servanthood and eldership. These are the fruits of the truly qualified leader. They look not for the lime-light but seek the Lamb-light as their reward. Nothing on this dismal earth appeals to them. Nothing can tempt them or buy them. Slander is their food and reproach is their mainstay. Rejection by religionists is their meat and their daily diet. To be accepted by the glitter and pomp and success of modern Christendom is anathema to their spirit.
Their joy is to be girded about with a simple apron and on their knees tending to the weary and the castaways, the unlovely, the forsaken, the unwashed…..” Quote by Devon Leesley (read the rest here).
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. Mark 13:8
The real wars, famines and earthquakes are “in-House”, not in the world. See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come to Church pulpits and on Internet, TV and radio stations, Conferences and Christian patriotic political rallies, pretending to represent Christ, saying, “I am a Christian!” and will mislead many in the Church. And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars in Christianity; see that you are not frightened, for these must take place, but the end is not yet.
For the children of the devil (Esau) will rise against the children of God (Jacob) and the kingdom of satan against the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in various places in the Church there will be famines of the Word of God and spiritual earthquakes causing much destruction, disturbance, bewilderment, sorrow and suffering for God’s true people (you). But all these things are the beginning of birth pangs (a birth is coming!).
Then they will deliver YOU, dear saint, to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by Religious Establishment people on account of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And at that time many Fake Christians will fall away and will betray the true Christians and hate them. And many false prophets will rise up in the Church and will deceive many. And because lawlessness in Christendom shall increase, most professing Christian’s “love for Jesus” and for true saints will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end of this trouble and remains faithful to Jesus Christ unto death, he shall be saved.
You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you in the Lord, that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. Galatians 5:7-10
One of the most popular false gospels currently is the false gospel of “Church”. This false gospel of “Church” has become popular in all corners of Evangelicalism of late. It is preached to unbeliever and believer alike. I’ve seen people in the community wearing t-shirts proudly promoting in large lettering THEIR CHURCH. Posters and fliers advertise THEIR CHURCH. I’ve been on ‘evangelism’ outings with groups whose “gospel message” to the community was, “Come to OUR CHURCH.” There are many sermons online preaching devotion to CHURCH. They preach the preeminence of CHURCH to Christians. There are Christian works such as music albums, websites and books, dedicated to making sure Christians are submitted to and devoted to CHURCH. This is being heavily promoted in Baptist, Reformed, Evangelical circles. This false gospel is just like Roman Catholic doctrine. To the lost their message is, “come to our CHURCH” (much like ‘salvation through Church’) rather than declaring the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. To the believer, their message is, “CHURCH is the preeminent thing in the Christian life.” Let us not get off track in our devotion. Let us not forget in Whom is our hope. Only the person and work of Jesus Christ is the gospel to the lost. And nothing but Jesus Christ is preeminent in the life of every true believer.
For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while and the time of her harvest will come.” Jer.51:33
O my threshed people, and my afflicted of the threshing floor! What I have heard from the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, I make known to you. Isaiah21:10
Grain for bread is crushed, indeed, He does not continue to thresh it forever. Isaiah28:28
The Threshing Floor is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. This is how the Lord threshes out His people. First He separates the wheat from the weeds, that is, the true from the fake. He then removes the chaff from His wheat. He removes the lies and impurities from the truth. He separates the deception from the truth. This involves discerning truth from lies. It involves choosing truth rather than lies. It involves walking in the truth and abiding in the truth. This threshing process hurts. The process of separation brings pain. There is pressure, crushing, sifting, separation. Only God’s people will thus be threshed. And none that are truly His, shall escape it. But this shall not continue forever. When He is done threshing, He will gather the wheat into His barn.
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Rev.11:1-2
O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
they have defiled your holy temple;
they have laid Jerusalem in ruins. Psalm79:1
Those deep inside the temple of God, at the altar of incense, have repented and continue to repent. They have turned away from sin; they forsake it. They have died to self; they have died on the cross. They have also entered in beyond the veil to the Holy of Holies and are with the Lord. They abide where the blood of Christ is applied. They worship Him in the Holy Spirit and they worship Him in the Truth. But the outer court is full of ‘Christians in name only’; the foolish virgins. This is also where the heathen have invaded, bringing compromise, defilement and lukewarmness. They in the outer court do not have the Bread, the Light, nor the altar of true worship in Spirit and Truth. They are “in the System” but are not close to Christ. They have not entered in to where He is. The crowds in the outer court are not even measured.
“I am …….. the truth”…John14:6
…they refused to love the truth…(esv) 2 Thes.2:10
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom.8:5-8
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. Gal.1:10
Once I was questioned by a pastor concerning my “interest in truth”. I was so shocked by the question, I could not think of what to say besides, “Yes.” Now I wish I had answered, “I love Him; He is everything to me.”
You cannot hear Truth without your flesh being offended. You must kill your flesh to receive Truth. You cannot speak forth Truth without the flesh of others being offended. You will either live for flesh or Truth. You will either love flesh or Truth. You will either serve flesh or Truth. You will either please flesh or Truth. You will either side with flesh or Truth. You will either defend flesh or Truth. You will either choose flesh or Truth. You have to choose.
“and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” Rev.17:14
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death..” Rev.12:11
There are some interesting lists of “threes” in scripture that pertain to God’s redeemed people. Here is one: called, chosen and faithful. “Those who are with the Lamb are the called and chosen and faithful.” Jesus said that many are called but few are chosen. How much fewer then, are those chosen who are also faithful. Those who are with Jesus have progressed from called, to chosen, to faithful. Here is another: the overcomers. These also have passed through three steps. First, the atoning blood of the Lamb was applied to them when they first believed. Then by their words, they professed Him verbally. Maybe they even preached and proclaimed Him. They have a testimony about the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they lived out “loving not their lives unto the death.” This includes willingly laying down of one’s life for Christ when faced with martyrdom. But it also involves denying self, dying to self daily, not loving one’s life in the flesh, killing sin and living the crucified life. Our purification in Him is not achieved through the first step only. As we follow the Lamb wherever He goes, He leads us all the way to the end of His “thrice purified” plan for the overcomers. These are the ones who are with Him.
Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Repent and turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all your abominations.” Ez.14:6 (Ezekiel)
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt.3:2 (John the Baptist)
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt.4:17 (Jesus)
“repent of this wickedness of yours”..Acts 8:22 (Peter)
“repent and do the deeds you did at first”..Rev.2:5 (Jesus)
One time I heard a pastor teach that we don’t have to repent, that repentance is something we did back way back when we became Christians. He actually disparaged the idea of repenting again or continuously. But way before Jesus sent His disciples to the pagan nations with the gospel, God was continuously sending messages to His own people to repent. Isaiah’s message to God’s people was repent. Ezekiel told God’s people to repent. John the Baptist’s message to God’s people was repent. Jesus said to God’s people, repent! Repentance is not just for those who are hearing the gospel for the first time, repentance is for God’s people too. Repentance is for the house of God. That would be us. God wants us to live the gospel and repentance is a huge part of the gospel. God calls us to repent because we need to. God wants us to turn onto the narrow road if we find ourselves wandering on the wide road. (The way is difficult; we have to repent to keep on the narrow path.) He wants us to change our mind from false beliefs to Truth. He wants us to turn from sin to Him with all our heart. Repentance is required for entrance into His kingdom. Repentance prepares us for His coming.
