Enfolding Spirituality or devotion to Christ

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

I’ve been watching this Emergent movement phenomena for many years. There are 2 streams that I am thinking about today.

1. The Ooze: (Remember that? I was on the mailing list for years, just to see what was going on.) This supposedly Christian, “embracing doubt” skepticism movement takes struggling Christians, deconstructs them and transforms them into atheists.

2. The Hatchery (and similar movements): This “alternative to traditional Christianity” mystical, transcendent, contemplative spirituality movement takes struggling Christians and deconstructs and transforms them into full-fledged New Age Mystical, “spiritualism” practicing, global spirituality (“all is one”) enlightened, spiritually evolved, wisdom sages.

Integral Theory, Evolutionary Human Development model of Spiral Dynamics, Enneagram spirituality? Dove and serpent power?

These are current movements in “Christianity”, which now includes the traditional institutional organized Christianity, as well as this Emergent Church Christianity.

If you go to Christian college, you will encounter all this. If you go to a Mainline denomination or a Neo-Evangelical Church, you will encounter this. If you go to a Roman Catholic Church you will encounter this. If you read popular Christian books you will encounter this. If you are involved in a Christian parachurch organization or Christian humanitarian organization, you may encounter this. Why? The whole loaf is fully leavened and it “arises” high as it grows. The leaven has made this fermenting mess impure. Jesus tells us: false Christs and false prophets shall “arise” from among you. They are showing great signs and wonders indeed. People are impressed with these lofty  (“puffed up”) ideas.

The change agents for these movements are operating inside and outside of traditional organized Churches. Their goal: your transformation and spiritual evolution. These “postmodern spirituality” and “Alternatives to traditional Church”  movements are cults.

We are either “enfolding spirituality” or devoted to Christ. God is separating out His people unto Himself, as He calls His sheep out from what is that great Babylonian mystery: “ancient free and accepted” Christianity.

Our devotion to Christ is simple and it is pure. Let this truth bring us joy today!

  1. The main link for The Hatchery

    From website:
Hatchery LA provides an innovative, residential learning program for individuals who want to become social transformation entrepreneurs and invest in a local community for multiple years by launching a sustainable “Common Cause Community.”

    • My goodness Loretta, I clicked on the hatchery link and saw they were having a seminar in Redondo Beach
Calif. and felt the urge to write as I grew up in Redondo Beach. When I was 11 years old my parents joined the S.R.F.
(self realization fellowship) church. We went there for two years and then they switched to Scientology but my heart
was in our Lord and they didn’t force me to go. Our Lord has done wonderful works in my life and I testify that this hatchery is indeed an evil cult. They will profess many roads to heaven, but there is only one road, our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. Righteous, peace and joy is offered to all of us who repent. All glory to God.

  2. It’s almost impossible to connect with another person because of the deception these days. John the Baptist had spent most of his life living away from people. As Satan was able to gain entrance with Eve so too will he discover a weak spot in the mind of thinking Matthew 24:24. This means drawing upon the Word ourselves with the Holy Spirit showing us Truth. Hebrews 1:3.
Yet, we are told to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together…………..”as ye see the day approaching.” This may well be an assembling with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to keep us in these days ahead from this great deception Christ warned us about (Matthew 24:4). We can’t be chained to something or someone that will pull us out of Truth. God is capable of keeping that which is His and like John the Baptist we stay in the wilderness but allow ourselves to be used where He wants. As John did.
When I have confusion about something I have found that he does show us what the answer is. We wait for that if we have patience. Jumping on a doctrine or something unexplained may pull us off the straight and narrow path. When we don’t wait it’s like Judas who lost in the end. I’m seeing people I am heartbroken for that I have gained much from but they got off the path. It’s a warning for us all.
Thanks Loretta for bringing these issues to our thinking.

    • Yes the ‘serpent’ inspired doctrines of men (lies) which embed religion, is what Jesus Christ comes to separate us from…. vis a vis His declaration: “The Truth shall set you free”. Regarding assembling together.. there’s a million ways to assemble besides “going to a Church building”…….. and turns out that was not what Jesus ever instructed or intended. He provides for us the many different ways to gather. Thanks for sharing Vickie!

I also have friends that I thought left the narrow way onto the broad path. I have felt bad for them, I miss them, I also have learned much from them. The list of regrets is endless. These are heart tugs are from walking the broad path with them. It is not they that have left the narrow path but we that have moved.

The movement goes something like this. From the broad path that leads to destruction we can see the narrow path. God knows the heart and works with things we will never understand as a prospective disciple.(look at ourselves) In time we realize we have entered via a broad gate that opens to a broad path. We actually backtrack and leave the broad gate. There is a spiritual and life pull by Jesus that describes himself as a narrow gate. We decide to actually enter the narrow gate. Sometimes it takes several efforts to get into the gate because of the baggage we want to bring with us. In time we realize that WE are the only thing that will fit through the gate. Once through the gate there is a narrow way that leads to life, this is what we have been looking for. Many years or just moments in time, if it leads to the narrow way because of the narrow gate we have entered what does it matter.

    • Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
“they got off the path”. I’m not sure they ever found the narrow way as the scripture says few find it. I suspect like many of my former institutional “brethren” they are the many that enter the wide gate and broad way. I can’t fathom finding the way to life and leaving it. It took me a long time to find it. For me it started with backing up, exiting the wide gate and discovering the small gate that will show us the narrow way. I could be wrong but to enter the narrow gate and follow the narrow way just doesn’t seem like something you would back up and exit from. It is hard to leave Babylon and our friends. The narrow path/way is the way to life, a journey, a race to be run for the prize at the end. We will meet others that have chosen the narrow gate and way. The gifts given to the body will build us up in His ways as we walk the narrow way.
