Political minded Christendom, even while it enthusiastically supports the war and killing mandate of ChurchState, pontificates of itself thus: “Christ our passover lamb has been sacrificed! Now we make ourselves a living sacrifice unto God!”

But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.”

One thought on “mercy

  1. Very true Loretta. Thanks for always contending for the faith.

I might also note that this “just wars” mindset developed by (Ambrose, Augustine, in light of Cicero), forwarded by Aguinas, then Luther & Calvin in the Reformation, and then in the West-Monster Confessions. It all comes from placing the emphases on God’s wrath over His mercy. In truth, Mercy triumphs over wrath.. The single greatest act of mercy ever done was Jesus at Calvary. This act of mercy then justified God’s mercy and forgiveness to all that should repent and believe. (God “is” love)…..

The big misconception of the atonement is that Christendom perceived that the blood of Christ satisfied God’s wrath. This lead to many false doctrines one being “just wars”. Of which is NOT true. The real truth is; it justified His mercy and forgiveness that He always desired to give mankind because of His great benevolent towards them . John 3-16. And yes, the wrath of God still remains on the children of disobedience, and children who insist on fighting in the flesh are children of disobedience. They know not the greatest sermon ever spoke (the Sermon on the Mount) .

God told Moses His name was in Exodus 34
5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, (those that repent and believe/obey).

7b but that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation…… (all that should disobey the Lord in future generations are still under judgement and condemnation) To these that repent not, and worship other gods, His name is “Jealous”, verse 14….

    Be blessed always, Bill
