Forgive them Father, they know not what they do. Luke23
The multitudes who were happy with their lukewarm religion and traditions,
and Religious Leaders who rejected Christ responded to Jesus’ witness in two ways:
1. They decided He was whacked-out nuts and weird, and they left Him and did not want anything to do with Him. They did NOT want to hear it from Him.
2. They decided He was outrageously prideful, a pathetic example of someone claiming to be “a man of God”, that He had a demon,
that He was a heretic and a blasphemer, a nonconformist, a radical, a traitor, crazy, a threat to their traditions and religious systems of men, and they wanted to kill Him. They did NOT want to hear it from Him and they wanted Him to permanently shut up.
THEY DID NOT WANT HIM.
And He let the multitudes go.
And He let the Religious Leaders accuse and condemn Him unrighteously.
And He let them hate Him, hurt Him and kill Him.
He turned the other cheek, letting them hit Him more.
And He prayed for their forgiveness.
They know not what they do.
