Deny & Die

“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.” Matthew 10:38

And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

“Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:27

“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:35

Jesus said you have to die. That means dying to self. That means denying self. That means dying to all your plans, goals & aspirations. That means denying yourself all attempts at self-preservation and protection. That means denying yourself the option of doing whatever it takes to avoid the pain. It means denying self in everything. It means losing your life for His sake. It means taking up your cross and following Jesus. (You follow to your death!) It means laying down your life for your friends in Christ Jesus. It means killing sin and mortifying the flesh, by the Spirit. We who are Christ’s have crucified our flesh with its affections and lusts. We are dead to the world. We pray: “Thy will be done”. We deny our will. We die to our will.

  1. amen Paul!

It’s interesting the contrast between the death & killing & denial of life
that the Lord does not want us to do, and that which He does want us to do.
