For their heart was not steadfast toward Him,
Nor were they faithful in His covenant. Psalm78:37
Where is your allegiance? Or who has your allegiance? Many Christians give their allegiance to men they admire. They are devoted to a man and will defend him at all costs. Their allegiance is to their pastor. Or they are devoted to a thing that was created by men. They have given their allegiance to a theological system or a religious organization. Their allegiance is to their Theological School or Church. Many have pledged allegiance to America and strive to “take it back for God” so their children can inherit a kinder, gentler “Christian culture”. Their allegiance is to a socio-political-religious ideology such as Christian Reconstructionism. Some have pledged loyalty to the government and its leaders. They have given their allegiance to “Caesar”. Some have sworn allegiance to another “Nation-State” far away. But all this pledging allegiance to People, Places and Things is idolatry. To whom or what is your allegiance? Is it to anything or anyone other than the Lord Jesus Christ?
