Delivering the Gospel

I love hearing stories of how God saves His people. You hear people speak of hearing the gospel preached at church, at an event, on the radio, on a CD, or even out on the street. You hear of people hearing the gospel from friends and family members. But then there are those who ‘heard the gospel’ by reading it in printed form. I enjoy reading stories about people around the world, in different times in history, that God brought to faith through the reading of scripture.

I wonder how many saints in the “great cloud of witnesses” in all of history, have come into God’s Kingdom by reading. The word of God is powerful (Heb.4:12). It’s exciting to consider them that read the gospel even before hearing it spoken.

It doesn’t take long before you start to think about exactly how these saints acquired the scripture. They had to get it from somewhere! God of course sent the gospel to them. God saved them through the power of His Word, but first He had His servants deliver it to them.

So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Is.55:11.
