Are we seeking Him? Are we seeking first His kingdom? Are we seeking His will, and not our own? Are we seeking the things above, rather than the things below?
The temptation is to seek our own good; to pursue leisure and the American Dream. Let us not waste our life and live for the earthly and temporal, but invest our life in the eternal; the things above. The stuff we have will burn. Souls of men and the Word of God will last eternally.
As A.W. Tozer wrote in his book, this world will be either our playground or our battleground. We must choose which attitude we have about the world, as our lifestyle will be adjusted accordingly. We can live to ‘party’ or we can live like it is ‘wartime’. We will seek play or we will seek to be in the service of our King.
The welfare of others is of primary concern. What more important issue of welfare is there, than the spiritual? What are we doing to invest in people? Presenting the gospel to the lost, teaching the Word to children, and discipling and teaching the saints, come to mind. We could seek to please ourselves. What about the spiritual welfare of our neighbor? Which will we seek- to the end?
Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. 1Cor.10:24.
